Description

Here it is, folks. Another lengthy project finally drawing to a close; and boy, was it a dozy. As much as I love the Spyro franchise, I can already tell that it's going down a path that I cannot follow. Guess I like the previous two series more than the Skylanders. So I decided to give my persona, Enygma, a major overhaul this time.

I'm digging the rich fantasy of Dave and Liz Lillie's work, the @DreamkeepersGranted, Dave and Liz have completed three volumes at this time. So there are plenty of stuff left untouched in the DreamWorld universe. Say, for example, that DreamKeepers are not the only ones out there. There could be different "Dream" creatures watching or lurking from a different plane of existence. DreamCatchers, spectral guardians that use to protect the DreamWorld's "veil" from evil entities, DreamEaters, the reapers of dreams, and DreamMakers, titans of a forgotten past. I can go on about these fanfics, but I'll save them for another time.

Going back to this piece, I was mostly experimenting with a variety of tools on Photoshop so I can get my groove going again. The background wall is an older work of my dragon, Shifting Iridescence. It reflects the passage of time between my art back then and my art right now. The black-ink-like water reflection at the bottom basically represents Enygma's own flaws and failures in his life. No matter what, those negative aspects will always be a part of him. The rainbow-like colors are there because I love bold, rich colors too much. Other than that, I thought about giving Enygma more personality by changing colors on his body to reflect his state of mind, much like a mood dragon from other works. I'd say it makes sense given the fact that, as a DreamCatcher, his power would be light manipulation.

That is all I can cover about this project. So I shall see you all next time.
